Civic Center Construction Delayed 57 Days, Architect Says.

Foul weather has hampered construction on the city of Moriarty's $2.1 million civic center.

But the project's architect told the Moriarty City Council on Tuesday that work on the 20,000-square-foot facility could accelerate when the weather gets better.

Garrett Smith, architect and coordinator for the project, told the council that contractors have lost 57 days of work on the building since construction began in September.

"There was really nothing that could have been done about it," Smith said.

He explained that the concrete used in slabs for the building's foundation and walls requires certain conditions for it to be used. …
