Track Teams See Benefit In Realigned Districts.(Sports)

A move to new districts this year could open the doors to team titles for the Belen and Los Lunas boys track teams.

Each returns state champions in field events. Each has solid sprinters and championship-caliber distance runners. And both expect big things this year.

LOS LUNAS: The Tigers have been moved into District 3-5A, and, after struggling against some of the state's track and field powerhouses in District 5-4A, are seriously eyeing a district championship.

"We've got good numbers. We've got about 60 kids out and I really think we have an opportunity to maybe win district just because of our numbers," said head coach Ken Noel. …
