Film Legend To Appear in Taos.(New Mexico)

A genuine film legend Elizabeth Taylor will be in Taos in early April for the seventh Taos Talking Picture Festival, officials have confirmed.

Taylor, whose 69th birthday was Tuesday, "has agreed to come out and accept our Maverick Award," Jason Silverman, the festival's artistic director, said Wednesday.

The Maverick Award is given to "a cinema artist who has retained his or her unique vision over the course of a distinguished career," Silverman said. Previous recipients have included Dennis Hopper, James Coburn, Ben Johnson, Louis Gossett Jr., Anjelica Huston and Slovak filmmaker Juraj Jakubisko.
