* Emergency declared after wind-driven accumulations block roads

RAINSVILLE Pam and Nazario Montoya, snowbound in their village since Sunday night, watched a front-end loader plow another trail through their village Tuesday.

They and other families in this community of approximately 250 had been stuck since the wind started blowing after a weekend snowstorm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow.

"I kinda like it," said Nazario Montoya, a former Mora County sheriff. "Some people said it's given them a chance to catch up with things around here."

Mora County officials declared a state of emergency after most of the 300 miles of county roads became impassable Monday morning, stranding more than 1,000 residents.

The Santa Fe County Commission on Tuesday also declared a state of emergency for snowbound southern Santa Fe County. …
