The weather experts say the weekend storm that slammed New Mexico may be the worst we'll see this winter.

Some residents who were still digging out Monday hope the prediction is right, but children in Albuquerque found the whole episode was just dandy on Sunday.

Slippery hillsides at Roosevelt Park were wet enough and snowy enough to make for fine sliding, at least until the sun began to do its thing.

The statewide storm was fickle; snowfall in Albuquerque ranged between 2 and 8 inches. Heavier accumulations, up to a foot and more, were reported elsewhere in the state, along with reports of drifts. Most major highways were open by Monday. …
