* Foundation brings a varied collection of works to the state Capitol

A 19th century religious statue on loan from a state-employed electrician and a bronze sculpture of a woman are among the new attractions on display at the state Capitol this year.

The Roundhouse hallways function as a venue for the nonprofit Capitol Arts Foundation to fill with artwork, whether the pieces are donated, loaned or, on occasion, commissioned.

The foundation board, which is appointed by the Legislative Council, added dozens of works this year, including the grainy color photography of Tom Barrow, a pastoral watercolor on paper by Fred Chilton of Las Cruces and detailed color etchings of a woman in curlers by African-American artist Ron Adams. …
