Residents bring their memories of Route 66 to be considered for an exhibit for the road's 75th anniversary in July

A few worshipers of the Mother Road delivered the motherload Saturday to officials at the state Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. The museum's "Kick in Your Kitsch" event this weekend, for an exhibit in July to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Route 66, got off to a slow start, though.

Snow squalls and soppy streets may have kept kitsch collectors to a minimum at the event, officials said.

"I guess Route 66 was really a summer road," said David McNeece, assistant collections manager for the museum, as he looked around the exhibit's empty check-in location. …
