Principal Would Seek Grants; Incumbent Says Lobby Legislature

Candidates for the Bernalillo school board District 3 seat offered differing solutions to reducing class sizes Friday during a forum at Algodones Elementary.

Placitas physician Charles Mellon said he would vote against more administrative appointments and use that money to hire two teachers.

"We have the highest proportion of non-teaching employees in our schools," Mellon said.

Nancy Walker of Algodones said each classroom needs to be looked at individually and, as an example, said her daughter's elementary classroom is too large for one teacher. …
