Prosecutors Sought To Shut Down Businesses

Prosecutors had hoped Friday to get a judge to permanently shut down three North Valley businesses owned by Owyhee "Red" Allen, who was convicted this week of promoting prostitution and conspiracy.

But state District Judge Pro Tem Rebecca Sitterly declined to rule on a motion by Deputy District Attorney Mark Drebing to close Allen's three businesses as public nuisances as a condition of Allen's release.

Instead, Sitterly told the snowy-bearded 76-year-old that the "free nude lotion demonstrations" at the one business of his that remains open the Cherry Blossom on North Edith would have to cease "by sundown" Friday. …
