Lawmaker Aims To Add Keno to N.M. Lottery.(Legislature)

SANTA FE A lawmaker's proposal to expand the state lottery could generate about $4.5 million more for education in the new game's first year, the state's lottery director said Thursday.

Rep. Daniel Silva, D-Albuquerque, has introduced a bill adding keno to the lineup of games the state lottery can offer.

Silva said his bill would devote all keno profits to the state's lottery scholarship program.

Keno could generate between $15 million and $20 million the first year of its inception, said Tom Shaheen, director of the New Mexico Lottery Authority. …
