On her debut CD, "Those Crazy Fallin' Down Things" (Socyermom Records), local singer/songwriter Kimo manages to show the full breadth of emotion without once seeming sappy. In songs like "Excuse Me," "Cross My Heart" and "Baby It's Me," she manages a conversational tone that is very fetching while avoiding the obvious. The rest of the disc is full of emotionally packed songs like "Gravensteins" and "Riding on Her Wings," which have the intensity that you would expect from a folk singer, without the pretension. If Kimo were to bring a band aboard to flesh out her sound, she would be a fixture on adult-alternative radio. …
