Is this weather miserable or what? There's nothing like a handful of warm, almost-spring like days followed by a snowstorm to quell the desire to leave the house, or crawl out of bed for that matter.

Makes me wish I'd high-tailed it to the tropics ages ago.

So, as the weather's behaving like a yo-yo, I've been taking on projects that will keep me indoors and occupied. Specifically, I've taken up knitting.

I learned to knit 10 years ago; my mother taught me. My first project a scarf mutated into something that resembled half a bootie. An afghan doubled its width before completion; another scarf never got past the planning stage. …
