Zoning Appeals Board To Reconsider Permits for Shopping Center Nightclub.

A city board will hear an appeal tonight seeking to reverse a decision giving former state Rep. Joe Nestor Chavez permits for a proposed nightclub and eatery at the Ladera Shopping Center.

One of the two conditional-use permits awarded to Chavez allows a full liquor license within a shopping center. The other allows billiards and darts, which are not permitted in the center.

The "Our Place Steakhouse and Sportsbar" would have about a 530-person capacity and would be open from 11 a.m to 2 a.m. daily except Sundays, when it would be open from noon to midnight, Chavez has said.

It is proposed to include a steakhouse/restaurant, a bar, a billiards and dart room and a dance floor. …
