Inaction Puts Town Behind Fed Schedule

Bernalillo town councilors Monday failed to approve a recovery plan for the town's ailing housing department.

A memorandum of agreement between the Bernalillo Department of Housing Services and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was up for approval by the council. It had been tabled at the council's Dec. 11 meeting.

The department has 75 low-income apartments, which are in a series of duplexes in the area near Calle Don Tomas and Calle Laguna.

According to the minutes of that meeting, postponing approval of the memorandum would put the town behind a schedule HUD has set for the agency to make improvements. …
