Simon Goldman Owned Simon's Western Wear.(Metropolitan)(Obituary)

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Congregation B'nai Israel for Simon Goldman, former owner of Simon's Western Wear and Uniform Store and longtime Albuquerque resident.

Goldman died Monday. He was 88.

"He was such an extraordinary man," said Barbara Goldman, his daughter. "His compassion, generosity and indomitable spirit were known by all. Everybody loved him because he treated everybody with dignity."

Simon's Western Wear, with its neon sign of a cowboy with a lasso, became a landmark of Route 66.

Born in Russia in 1912, Goldman moved to Denver in 1920, where he was a western-wear salesman. …
