Dense Fog Disrupts Flights, Driving.(Metropolitan)

Dense fog settled over the city Tuesday night, making driving hazardous and causing planes to circle the city until visibility improved.

A couple of flights were delayed from landing for about a half an hour Tuesday night at the Albuquerque International Sunport while airport officials waited for the fog to lift, said Dave Norman, an airport operations manager. None of the flights had to be diverted to another airport, he said, and the skies around the airport were mostly clear by 10 p.m.

At times, visibility at the airport dropped to 50 feet or less, said Kurt Van Speybroeck, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albuquerque. …
