SANTA FE New Mexico might be the home of the stealth fighter, but the hot-air balloon is stealing the thunder this legislative session.

Rep. James Roger Madalena, D-Jemez Pueblo, is sponsoring a bill that would name the hot-air balloon New Mexico's official aircraft.

Madalena said his bill is meant to recognize the annual Kodak Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, which draws pilots and spectators from around the world.
