Visitors Center To Promote Statewide Tourism.

Jemez Pueblo's visitors center will be expanding its offerings as part of a new partnership with the state.

The Walatowa Visitor Center, which opened last year, will begin accepting state funding to provide information on the rest of the state.

Visitors to the Jemez Pueblo will be able to get maps of New Mexico or cities they want to visit, as well as vacation guides and other information.

It's the first tribal visitors center to take part in the program, said Lorentino Lalio, the director of Indian tourism for the state.

"I work with all the tribes," Lalio said. "Jemez has always been very ambitious of developing tourism in the community. …
