Changes Made In City Offices

Santa Fe City Manager Frank DiLuzio announced a whirlwind of "reorganization changes" Monday, including the resignation of Public Utilities Director Dennis Gee, in response to a growing financial crisis in city government.

Gee, who left his directorship position with the state Public Regulation Commission in October 1999 to join City Hall, was hired by then-City Manager Mike Mier for his "solid and sensible" background. Gee leaves less than six months before the city is scheduled to take over full operation of Sangre de Cristo Water Co. from Public Service Company of New Mexico.

Though the 22-year government steward gave no comment Monday, city staffers, department heads and lawmakers praised Gee as friendly and forthright. …
