WHERE DO THOSE BUMPS COME FROM? Howard Riche asks that question about the speed bumps recently installed on Tesuque. He says there's no way there's the required volume of speeding cars to warrant bumps. "I believe the street was safe before they were installed," Howard writes. "There is no way Tesuque Drive NW meets the criteria. Did the city install a traffic counter? If they did I never saw it. During the peak morning hours and evening hours I doubt if there are more than 75 cars per hour, and the other hours are extremely light."

And while we're on the topic of speed bumps, Reber Boult e-mails that a recent column listing speed-bump qualifications shows I either have a "learning disability," "misperceive" what's before my eyes, refuse to look at the truth or I "produced the falsehoods from whole cloth and served them up to (my) public. …
