Mustangs, Rio Grande Finish Second, Third

Del Norte made it two in a row Saturday, winning the Albuquerque City Wrestling Tournament by an impressive 33-point margin over runner-up West Mesa.

But while the Knights mugged for pictures with their team trophy at Rio Grande High School, coach Charlie Dotson did his best to keep the victory in perspective.

"Rio Grande had six guys out with injuries, and West Mesa had two," Dotson said. "So, this is kind of bittersweet.

"But our team doesn't have the big studs this year. We have to win by working hard and wrestling smart, and the kids did a good job of that."

The Knights crowned two individual champions, Chris Torres at 152 pounds and Thomas Navarette at 215. …
