Health Center Tops Legislative Wish List.

Sandoval County is asking the Legislature to appropriate $3.1 million to begin phase one of a proposed $10 million county health and community center tentatively slated to be built on the north end of Rio Rancho.

The county has identified the proposed center as its No. 1 legislative priority.

Joan Nelson, the county's assistant community services director, and Peggy McCarthy, Rio Rancho's grant administrator, Thursday gave the commission a status report on the project.

They said the center is a collaboration of many agencies and people and will offer residents better comprehensive care and integrated services.

"Current health and social service providers in southern Sandoval County are feeling the pressure of growth," Nelson told the commission. …
