A: After the grass goes dormant, which means after it turns brown, you should water it about once a month to keep it from getting dehydrated.

If the weather is dry and windy, as it was earlier in the fall, you should water a little more often. If it is wet and snowy you can water less.

Choose a relatively warm day with calm winds to water and water for the same length of time you would water in the summer. No matter what time of year you are watering, you should water until the soil is moist at least 12 inches down. …
