Southern Culture takes liquor theme to hilarious extremes

If you need an explanation for the title of the latest CD from Southern Culture on the Skids, "Liquored Up and Lacquered Down," you need look no further than the band's lifestyle over the past few years.

"It's been kind of a lost two years," guitarist/vocalist Rick Miller joked recently. "Everybody's alcohol consumption went way up. More so than before Think of all the time we've spent in bars."

Indeed titles like "Corn Liquor," "The Corn Rocket" and "I Learned to Dance in Mississippi," all take the liquor theme to hilarious extremes.

Also following the theme, but with less of a home-brew twist are songs like "Drunk and Lonesome (Again)" and the title track, which follows the exploits of a big-haired, red-lipped vixen who can hold her liquor. …
