Rights Work To Be Recognized.(Metropolitan)

Eight people and two organizations will be honored by the Albuquerque Human Rights Board in March.

The board will hold its 12th Annual Human Rights Awards Program and Ceremony on March 8 at 5:15 p.m. at the Sheraton Uptown, 2600 Louisiana NE.

The awards program recognizes people who push for human rights, human dignity, equal opportunity and equal access in Albuquerque.

The honorees are:

* Adelamar Alcantara will receive the Frank J. Miranda Bridge Award;

* Miguel Leon-Guerrero is being recognized with the Miguel Trujillo Unsung Hero Award;

* Keith Franklin, Andrew Lipman, Yen Nguyen, Joe Powdrell and Bill Sullivan will receive the Human Rights Award;

* Rick Glass is being recognized with the Affirmative Action Award;

* Julie Bejarano, a senior at Rio Grande High School, will receive the 2001 Neil Isbin Scholarship Award of $1,000;
