Poll: Sex Education Should Start Early.

Should youths wait until they tie the knot to have sex?

Should public schools' sex education include information on contraception and sexually transmitted diseases?

And what about New Mexico schools offering sex education that teaches only about abstinence?

A survey of 1,195 New Mexico adults addressed these and other questions in a poll called "Attitudes Toward Sex Education," conducted by Research & Polling Inc. The poll, commissioned by the New Mexico Teen Pregnancy Coalition, was released Thursday.

The poll showed that 88 percent of adults surveyed believe schools should begin teaching students about puberty, abstinence and AIDS in the seventh or eighth grade. …
