But Fewer Indians Leaving City Schools

Santa Fe's middle and high school students two years ago quit school at a higher rate than the state average.

Indians and Hispanics make up the highest percentage of dropouts in Santa Fe's secondary schools but the trend appears to be dramatically improving for Indian students.

Meanwhile, more Anglo students left school in 1998-99 than in the two previous years.

Santa Fe Public Schools has known for a while that its high school dropout rate soared to 12 percent in 1998-99, making it the second highest in the state. The 1999-2000 dropout data won't be available until February or March. …
