Academy Blows Past Moriarty, Wins 79-37.(Sports)

A winter storm was not the only thing that swept through Moriarty on Friday night. The state's fourth-ranked Class AAAA boys basketball team, Albuquerque Academy, also blew into town.

In the aftermath, it was hard to tell which one did more damage. The Moriarty High boys may be a bit biased, but the Pintos probably feel Academy was far more devastating than the blizzard outside.

Academy (10-2) simply dominated Moriarty (3-11) in every aspect of a nondistrict game en route to a rampaging 79-37 victory.

The Chargers' recipe for success was simple: Ice Moriarty's senior-guard tandem of Wade Elliott and Shane Wallin, and the rest of the game would take care of itself.

That's exactly what Academy did. …
