43-41 Win Earned In Men's League Play

Undefeated Lone Mountain Contracting (4-0) averted an upset Sunday, nipping Al's Minimart/Husky Drilling (1-3), 43-41, in Los Lunas Men's Basketball League action.

Al's Eric Nixon missed a 15-foot shot with 3 seconds to play that could have tied the game.

"Experience paid off for Lone Mountain," league scorer and statistician Dave Romigh said. "The majority of Lone Mountain players have been together for eight years. Al's Minimart put that experience to task. This was a defensive, physical game."

Lone Mountain, which had been averaging 67 points a game and leads the league in 3-pointers, had to fight back from a 24-21 halftime deficit. …
