Senior Jail Guards Get $15 an Hour Under Plan.

Wages for an experienced Bernalillo County corrections officer would increase to $15 an hour if workers approve Albuquerque's latest offer, city officials said Wednesday.

Corrections officers with more than five years of experience now average about $12 an hour, jail director John Dantis said.

Corrections officers will vote on the city's offer within the next two weeks, said Frank Gallegos, president of the officer's union.

Corrections officers are generally pleased with the proposal, although the union had asked for $15.50 an hour for senior officers, he said.
