Abeyta, SFIS Grab Win At Sandia Prep.(Sports)

Not many teams holding a lead, however substantial, after three quarters can afford to score only two points in the final period.

But Santa Fe Indian School did just that in beating Sandia Prep 48-32 on Wednesday night in boys high school basketball to earn a non-district Class 2A road win.

Led by Johnny Abeyta's 17 points, the Braves shot over the Sundevils' zone to start the game and forge an early 18-6 lead. With Santa Fe Indian (11-1) hitting all three of its 3-point attempts two by Abeyta and one by Dominic Aguilar Sandia Prep was forced to come out of its zone.
