Rob Haddock is one player who almost welcomes racial remarks and he has heard them all.

Haddock is a defenseman who has made an immediate impact since joining the New Mexico Scorpions 15 games ago, helping the team to 11 wins in that span as it moved atop the Western Division standings of the Western Professional Hockey League.

New Mexico returns home to play San Angelo tonight at Tingley Coliseum following a successful road trip in which the Scorpions won two of three matches.

The veteran blue-liner is one of the few black players in the league, although he's the third such Scorpion after Jimmy Verdule several years ago and Nick Forbes last season. …
