Residents Urged To Get Involved

TAOS Taos County officials plan a visible presence throughout the 2001 session of the state Legislature and they are enlisting the help of local residents to rally behind needed county projects.

County Manager Robert Dale Morrison said he expects to spend most of the next 60 days lobbying legislators for a number of health and safety projects the county deems vital.

These include funding for a justice center/detention center; a number of road improvements, including the Hondo-Seco Road; additional ambulances for the Emergency Medical Service; matching funds for the county's federal YouthBuild program and money to hire a full-time county fire marshal to coordinate fire prevention programs and administer a joint purchasing effort for the county's dozen volunteer fire departments. …
