City Council Might Take More Time on Noise Law.(Metropolitan)

The push to enact a more stringent noise-control law in Albuquerque might last a few more weeks.

City Council President Brad Winter said Monday that he plans to ask the council to postpone final action on the measure. The proposal is scheduled for consideration at Wednesday's council meeting.

"It's something we don't want to rush through," Winter said.

A City Council committee spent about six months accepting testimony on proposed revisions to Albuquerque's noise law. The panel agreed unanimously in November to recommend approval of the measure.

The revised noise law would prohibit blaring a car stereo that can be heard 25 feet away, amplified paging systems at car dealerships and incessant dog barking. …
