Urban Planner Rescued Near Dam.

A massive overnight search in frigid temperatures for Santa Fe urban planner James Siebert, who became disoriented Saturday while cross-country skiing in the Santa Fe National Forest, ended Sunday with his rescue near the Nambe Reservoir dam.

Siebert, 54, declined medical treatment and was driven home by his wife, Linda, who said he was tired and hungry, but otherwise all right. She estimated her husband covered about 40 miles during his ordeal.

"I think he was very lucky," said David Burdett, the search and rescue field coordinator for the State Emergency Management Response Team. "The overnight temperature was below zero up there. …
