Santa Ana Pueblo officials say the new Hyatt Regency Tamaya near Bernalillo will rival operations in more exotic locales

Want to experience a fancy resort like the ones found in Bali, San Lucia, Cancun, Aruba or Waikiki?

Then head to just outside Bernalillo.

Bernalillo, N.M.? Yes, Bernalillo.

The new $80 million Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa at Santa Ana Pueblo is set to open to the public Tuesday.

It will be the state's newest premier destination resort offering leisure experiences that will rival those in more exotic locales.

The resort, tucked behind a bluff along the Rio Grande and not visible from nearby roads, is situated on more than 500 acres with spectacular views of the Sandia Mountains and the river.

What can guests both from afar and New Mexico expect from this world-class resort?

Upon arrival guests will be welcomed by a four-piece sculpture that portrays four tribal settings. A grandmother dips water out of a fountain that serves as the sculpture's pedestal. Nearby stand a young man with a hoe in a corn field and a grandfather with two youths by his side. A young woman with her hand extended welcomes guests to the hotel. The bronze tableau is by Socorro artist Sharon Fullingham.

From that point on guests will be transported to another world the Tamaya world. …
