City, County Likely To Keep Running Senior Center.(Community)

The Meadowlark Senior Center appears on its way to another five years of service to the area and will soon have some renovations and improvements.

The city this week moved to renew its lease agreement with the county to run the center until 2005. Rio Rancho also is seeking money from the state Legislature to renovate the center, and bond money already approved by voters will soon go toward improvements in fire safety at the center.

The Rio Rancho City Council on Wednesday unanimously voted to renew its agreement with Sandoval County to run the center on Meadowlark just south of N.M. 528. The Sandoval County Commission has yet to vote on the renewal, but Deborah Brogdon, director of senior services for the city, said Thursday she was confident of the renewal. …
