White To Miss Game Today Vs. Air Force

When University of New Mexico men's basketball coach Fran Fraschilla says no breathers are on this season's Mountain West Conference schedule, he's probably right especially the way things have gone for his squad this season.

Tonight could have been as close to a respite as possible, but not anymore. When the Air Force Academy (5-9, 0-1) makes its yearly visit to the Pit this evening, the Lobos will be without senior wing Wayland White, who's in Mississippi for his uncle's funeral.

"I've never been through a season like this," says UNM coach Fran Fraschilla, who has had one player (Zeke Johnson) suspended by the NCAA, suspended another (White) himself for academic reasons, and threw another (Malcolm Battles) off the team for disciplinary reasons.

"We've had so many distractions as far as injuries, suspensions and such," Fraschilla says. "We've had to overcome a lot this year, and this is another chance to deal with adversity. …
