Charisma school finds new home in the unconventional Blue Granary

the neighbors may know the big, blue, barnlike building on Hopewell Street as The Blue Granary, but for Audrey Derell, it's Charisma Dance Company's new home. Derell enjoys practically everything about the unconventional, three-story building. That's good, because she spends six days a week there, shaping the dance movements of more than 100 community children.

"I moved in at the very end of December, because I wanted my students to begin the new year in the new space," she explains while looking around the airy and spacious studio space. "I love this place. When I walk in, I want to touch the space, tidy it up, polish the floors. Every dance I create here will add to the energy of the space. It's light and positive. That's what I want my students to experience when they study here. …
