Pueblo Man Faces Possible Life Term

A Pojoaque Pueblo man accused of killing a woman in a November 1999 head-on crash while being chased by police pleaded guilty this week to second-degree murder.

Jeremy Louis Tapia, 20, admitted in federal court in Albuquerque on Wednesday that he had killed Patricia Ulibarri in the accident on the Santa Clara Pueblo on Nov. 29, 1999, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Tapia's sentencing has not been scheduled but he faces a term of up to life in prison.

Larry Ulibarri, Patricia Ulibarri's husband, was driving the Jeep that Tapia's car hit. He said Thursday he was glad Tapia pleaded guilty, but added that it offered little comfort. …
