La Cueva Chasing Crown At APS Swimming Meet.(Sports)

"We'd like to reclaim the city title," says La Cueva swimming coach Quint Seckler, whose Bears lost to Valley 432-408 in 2000.

After winning seven of the last nine city boys swimming-and-diving championships, Seckler's Bears again are one of the favorites for this weekend's 2001 Albuquerque Public Schools all-city meet.

"But," says Seckler, "there are about four or five teams like Valley, Manzano, ourselves and Highland that could do it. I think it's probably wide open. It goes down to 16 placers, so it'll depend on depth."

The two-day event starts today at noon with 1-meter diving competition at the Sandia pool. …
