Board Varies From Two-Acre Lot Policy.

The County Commission is trying to stick to its guns in enforcing a two-acre minimum lot size to protect the greenbelt in the valley, but deviated a bit in a zone change approved this week.

The commission declined a request from Edward Archuleta of Peralta, who had asked that a tract of 2.7 acres on Zamora Lane be split into three lots. However, the commission did give him permission to split it into two lots, as long as the smaller lot is at least one acre.

The County Planning and Zoning Commission in December had recommended approving the zone change, with the condition that the tract be split into two lots and not three. …
