There is a need for a full-service hospital with about 49 beds and a 24-hour emergency room in Valencia County, a study has concluded.

The study also outlines ways to finance and manage the hospital, and recommends a possible site on state-owned land near the state prisons in Los Chavez.

Valencia County commissioners this week received the much-anticipated study by Dale Olson of Sandia Consulting of Albuquerque. However, commissioners did not release the 4-inch-thick report to the public, citing a confidentiality clause in the county's $40,000 contract with Olson which calls for the report to be discussed with him first. …
