Gov. Hopes Revenues Won't Breed Pork Projects.(New Mexico)

The focus of the upcoming legislative session will be on how best to spend a huge amount of new money, Gov. Gary Johnson said Wednesday in a speech to 100 business and community leaders in Albuquerque.

"We need to get away from the concept of pork to the concept of prioritizing what we need to spend," he said, adding that he is "optimistic we can make headway in these areas" with the new House leadership.

The increased revenue, estimated to be as much as $400 million, is largely from taxes on oil and gas production.
