Metallica, a favorite for years among many Heavy Metal fans, threw itself to the forefront of American legal publicity last year when it sued the Internet music swapping site Napster over a truckload of alleged copyright infringements.

The heart of the matter for the fight between the band and Napster: digital piracy, copyright protection and simple theft.
