Writer/musician continues crusade against violent lyrics.

Local writer and musician Alisa Rodriguez is continuing an ongoing fight against the music industry concerning rap and rock lyrics that promote violence against women.

Rodriguez, a former pop music writer for the Los Angeles Times and a native of Albuquerque, will make her second appearance on MTV, a cable television music video station, in a network special on violent song lyrics.

Rodriguez will be in Santa Monica, Calif., this month to tape the interview. No release date for the show has been announced. She appeared on a similar MTV special in 2000.

A graduate of Columbia University's School of Journalism, Rodriguez, 31, teaches journalism at the University of New Mexico. …
