The contract is signed. Albuquerque can have Triple A baseball again if it is willing to approve the expenditure of some $25 million to $40 million to build or extensively refurbish a stadium to meet the requirements of the Pacific Coast League.

The timeline is tight from here. Chicago financial investment broker Martin "Mike" Koldyke's purchase agreement provides that Albuquerque provide the new stadium by the start of the 2003 season.

Mayor Jim Baca said the agreement leaves sufficient time for preparations for a special election in April. First, however, Baca must rally the City Council behind the idea, must settle the location question (or, perhaps, submit it to the voters along with the cost of the alternatives), and persuade a majority to vote in favor of the package on special election day. …
