You never know when disaster might strike. If and when a crisis hits the East Mountains and Estancia Valley, the Red Cross wants to be ready.

When most people think of the Red Cross they think of catastrophes like wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes or floods. But the international organization also plays a role in providing relief to victims of less spectacular but devastating tragedies. Home fires or weather-related property damage are examples.

A disaster action team is forming to respond to emergencies in our area, and the Red Cross is looking for volunteers willing to help. …
