District To Re-Evaluate Classroom Goals.

Rio Rancho Public Schools is planning on creating a new road map for its classrooms.

The district plans to examine its goals, mission and beliefs over the next few months. Such goals in the past have pushed for students to read at grade level by third grade or to reach the top 25 percent nationally in standardized test scores, for instance.

"We need to revisit what we've accomplished and look at what we have not," said Carl Leppelman, assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and accountability.

The original plan was created when the district was founded in 1994; it was revised slightly in 1998. …
