3 Vie for 1 Seat On Mountainair School Board.

Two Other Posts Are Uncontested

Five candidates will be on the ballot for the Mountainair school board election on Feb. 6, but all of the competition is focused on Position 3.

Three candidates will compete for Position 3 while the remaining two candidates are unopposed for the other two open seats.

Incumbent and current board president Linda Shovelin, 52, is running again for Position 3.

Shovelin is married and has two children who graduated from the Mountainair school system. She has served eight years on the school board, the past two as president. She is from Mountainair and works part-time for Pat's Flowers.

Shovelin said she is running again because the current board has "started projects that I would like to see continued. …
